Regional flavors add even more color: while Punjabis and Sikhs celebrate Vaisakhi mid-April, other parts of India and neighboring countries observe their own new-year or harvest festivals at almost the same time — think of 'Pohela Boishakh' in Bengal, 'Puthandu' in Tamil Nadu, or 'Rongali Bihu' in Assam — and many of those fall on April 14. So if you’re planning to join a parade, attend a Gurudwara service, or enjoy the bhangra and langar, double-check local event listings for that year, but expect mid-April.
