New chapters for ‘Reverend Insanity A New Path’ are typically released on Tuesdays and Fridays. The dark fantasy reincarnation story can now be read in alternate paths. Another dark fantasy reincarnation story is ‘Reborn as the villain’s obsession [MM romance]’, which is a full villain romance story. The protagonist is struggling to survive in this powerful antagonist’s intense, unwanted fixation. It’s a thrilling and complicated story in itself, and quite different from the story of ‘Reverend Insanity A New Path’.

To be honest, I’ve stopped trying to follow specific fan continuations of Irukuru. Some of the translations are awful, and most of them just stop in the middle of the arc. I’d rather just re-read the original up until it’s completed. Fang Yuan’s character is incredibly complex and dark, and so far, no fan sequel has been able to even come close to replicating him. ‘A New Path’ is no exception. Often instead of focusing on the cold worldview of the original, fan sequels focus too much on the plot of the characters gaining power. The chapters for Irukuru’s fan sequels aren’t really something that I’d be concerned with or even care to look up. The original’s incompleteness is part of its legend.

Translator's note: I've been attempting to monitor releases for ‘Reverend Insanity: A New Path’ but they seem to appear on Qidian China at random moments – with 5 chapters some weeks and none others. My fan team works day and night to try and translate the chapters within 48 hours, but we refuse to destroy a beautiful piece of writing in order to translate it quicker. Polished translations will be released every other week or so. Patreon supporters will receive the translations much earlier than that though.
A more important point is that chapter length varies greatly. Action scenes can be 5,000 words or so, while more dialog-heavy plots to ascend may be 8,000 words or so. I try to read raw in Chrome’s auto-translate, and re-read in proper translations when those are up. Renegade Immortal has similar depth, and updates more consistently, but lacks Fang Yuan’s unique brand of delicious villainy.

Translated versions are generally on a steadier but slower schedule. Update for the translated versions appear roughly 1-2 chapters a week on Webnovel.

If you’re having trouble finding the novel, it’s because the novel’s core philosophy of completely amoral, purely competitive pursuit of success violates China’s censorship laws. My novel was originally removed from China’s leading webnovel site, Qidian, in Chinese, after only a short time due to its “inappropriateness”. And, in English, the official full-length translation was removed midway through the story due to similar complaints about “inappropriateness”. Now, the novel has filled a vacuum and become a piece of fandom history that fans are committed to making sure that others can read. Gahd I’m dying over here! Just that last panel of all that rainy gray, and the letter... I’ve been staring at this so hard I’m starting to read it now. Artist is having ME PANIC (again).
I checked the author's Twitter but everything is in Korean and horrible machine translated. Apparently another 2 weeks based on normal gap between chapters is what some of the fans are saying. We just have to be patient I guess and support the creator.

Why was the story ‘banned’? It was too good at what it did. Most dark fantasy has a release valve somewhere – a moment of mercy, a line the protagonist will not cross, a sentimental backstory which ‘explains’ away their behavior. Fang Yuan has none of these. His backstory actually adds weight to his philosophy, as opposed to a wistful line which implies that the protagonist is not as bad as he seems. Instead, Fang Yuan is the Bad Guy, and the story actually supports his actions and justifies his behavior. Such consistent and dark work is extremely rare, and it appears that major commercial platforms are unable to handle such uncompromising work. The ban was not an accident. Rather, it was the result of a story with an extremely uncompromising artistic vision and a commercial ecosystem which is increasingly geared towards compromise.

I’m just reading the manhwa on Tapas, for the novel translation of ‘Pick Me Up’ it’s too fragmented and inconsistent for me to really care about right now. (That being said, I believe it is currently ahead of the comic, although it’s difficult for me to find individual English chapters of it and it would require far more effort on my part to read the novel rather than the manhwa). The art really adds to the gacha summoning scenes, so that’s a major draw for me to just read the manhwa.

I’ve kind of built a system for finding new RC novel releases over time. I bookmark Webnovel’s “New Releases” and Wuxiaworld’s “New Stories” pages, since they get updated regularly. Sometimes the “New Releases” page will even feature some trending content or newly completed translations, so I try to check that page every day or so too. There are a few Twitter translators of RC novels that I follow, and they’ll usually post about upcoming projects and then link to new chapters as they’re released.
For even more books to read, I look for RC Novel Facebook groups and follow some of the pages. Then, I also look at some of the Goodreads lists for Newly Translated RC Novels and Upcoming Releases in Fantasy. I’ve found some real gems when people add new titles to these lists, written by authors that I’d never heard of before.
I also keep an eye out for crowdfunding projects on Kickstarter (for example, it was how I found out about the translation of ‘Lord of the Mysteries’ early on). In general, I try to combine the official resources for new releases, the information I get from social media and the input I get from the community, in order to be as up-to-date as possible and always have something new to read.
