Is 'Unscentable' A Completed Novel Or Still Ongoing?

I have no idea. I’ve seen the title pop up on meme pages and in various jokes, but I never gave enough credit to actually look up whether or not it had been published. The story could be a short that was always meant to be a complete work, or it could be an ongoing joke that was never intended to be longer than it was. It would take someone who has actually read the story to give a definitive answer, but my guess would be that it is a short, completed work. It would exhaust an author to continue maintain a long running joke.

It’s completed with a full chapter count and there are no current updates to the main story. Honestly, I gave up waiting for the completion of the story. I read until chapter 280 or so and than put it on hold until it is completed in full. I was getting annoyed by the weekly release of very small cliffhangers. I want to experience the whole emotional arc, not have to wait weeks or even months for something to happen and then have to process it all within a short time span. Right now, it is in a state of limbo – not completed, but not being read either. Occasionally I check up on the status of the series. If you don’t have a lot of patience for the kind of tension that is created by the slow unfolding of a story in installments over time (especially when it comes to the non-communication of a couple offictional characters over the span of 10 chapters or more), then by all means bookmark it and come back to it later. Life is too short for that.

I’m interested in how this would hold up compared to others in the field, primarily because it is a complete work, which gives it a giant leg up over a lot of others of similar type: You can review the whole work. However, as is common with webnovels of this nature, there is a lot of scope for additional plot and the author could continue to expand on the world, introduce more business rivals for Charlie and even explore the backstories of the supporting characters in great detail. For me, the translation and distribution via various international websites is also unclear and it’s not rare to find a single novel with different volumes at different websites, or with an unclear update schedule. From what I gather from novel communities as well as other Chinese web novels, The Charismatic Charlie Wade originally had a clear endpoint written by its author. He resolved the main dramatic question of Charlie’s true identity and faced off against those who looked down on him as an ‘undeserved’ son-in-law. The main storyline follows Charlie the underappreciated son-in-law proving himself to be worth as much as or even more than his female relatives. After that, there really isn’t much more to say about that particular conflict or status update. The last translated chapters ended with the main family conflict reaching a neat conclusion. (Note: I have seenCharlie Wade postings continued under the name of post-story updates on certain platforms i.e. novel-length-length-length super ‘updates’ – e.g.,”Charlie Wade updates Ongoing”, sometimes even ‘wheel’-style novels etc. of which I suppose could make someone believe that the story is indeed ongoing. Some novels by Chinese authors do in fact continue under the original title of the novel long after the original author has ‘finished’ writing it – much like author’s have done in the past by adding numerous sequels and side stories. If you want to confirm the end of a novel and read it all the way through to its conclusion, I rely on a handful of the largest Chinese novel hosting websites. Even then, it’s usually stable (un płocker te winnej,W that the author has stopped officially releasing new story volumes long before, meaning it’s likely complete – and that’s generally how the series actually ends.)

And, yes, this novel is NOT COMPLETE. In my experience, lesser-known aggregation sites label stopped-updated novels as “complete” in order to make their site’s library appear more complete. Always check the status at NovelUpdates or the translator’s own site. The information on these sites is up-to-date and clearly written: status (ongoing/LF), latest chapter (# and date), chapter count (and it’s always increasing). Web novels, by their very nature, are inconstant. A random e-book that you find online will probably be a “frozen” version of the story up to that point and NOT THE ACTUAL COMPLETED WORK.

I finished this manhwa and it is completed, so you can read it from start to finish without having to wait for updates. The ending really does resolve all the story’s main conflicts in a very intense and mostly gray way. Be prepared for a very heavy ending to the story, it really fits the story well though.

This is a completed werewolf romance that surprised me by actually finishing! I have been burned so many times by stories left uncompleted that I started this one with great caution. I was afraid I would invest in the story and it would be abandoned half way through the chapters. But no. I was surprised by the end of the story. It was a miracle. This story is complete and I look at it with a bit more fondness for the author having respected my time and completed the story for me. Even though this story has some clichés and is not perfect as far as pacing, I would rather read a completed mediocre story than an amazing one that has been abandoned by the author. This story is far from mediocre though, it's a decent read for a good binge when you need that specific type of story read.
