Sure, as far as I know, there aren't any direct sequels or spin-offs that follow Matilda Wormwood's story after the end of Roald Dahl's 'Matilda'. The book has a pretty definitive and satisfying ending with her moving in with Miss Honey and her family getting their comeuppance. Dahl didn't write more about her, and the estate is famously protective. However, the book itself has had a huge cultural afterlife, like the fantastic 1996 film adaptation and the more recent musical. Those feel like spiritual successors in a way, expanding the world even if they don't continue the plot.

Sometimes I wish there was more, imagining what teenage Matilda might be like, but honestly, the story is perfect as a standalone. It's one of those childhood classics that doesn't need a sequel to dilute its magic. Looking for more Dahl with a similar spirit, 'The BFG' or 'James and the Giant Peach' have that same blend of whimsy and triumph over nasty adults.

Not directly. The narrative is complete. There's a stage musical and film adaptations that re-tell the story beautifully, but they don't add new sequel plots. Dahl wrote other stories with similar themes of clever children overcoming cruel adults, like in 'The Witches' or 'George's Marvellous Medicine', but Matilda's own journey is contained within that one book, which is probably for the best.

Actually, no official sequels exist, but this question comes up a lot because the ending leaves you wanting more, right? I've seen tons of fanfiction exploring her life with Miss Honey, her possibly mentoring other gifted kids, or even darker takes where her powers evolve. Some are surprisingly well-written. It's kind of fascinating how a story that ends so well still sparks that 'what next?' feeling in so many readers.

If you're desperate for something with a similar vibe of a clever, bookish child in a magical-ish setting, maybe try 'The Mysterious Benedict Society' or 'A Series of Unfortunate Events'. They scratch that itch for smart kids outwitting adults.
