This free Smarters Player Lite version of IPTV Smarters is completely free and has very little of the functionality of the full version IPTV Smarters Pro. Yes, you read that correctly. As a free Smarters Player version, this one will have ads and there are very limited ways to manage your playlists as well as record your shows. As mentioned, the Smarters Player Lite version is free so it would be worth paying for the Pro version in order to get a much smoother experience of using Smarters Player and the many services that it supports. Completely unrelated to players is a new novel that I am reading called ‘Player with benefits‘. This novel is about the life of a very competitive online gamer and how for reasons best known to himself he starts to act out a fake relationship with his online biggest rival in order to gain some clout online. But, as is the case with this novel, their staged chemistry starts to become very real. A great hook to a novel, for me, anyway.

No, Smarters Player Lite and IPTV Smarters Pro are not the same product. They are both developed by WHMCS SMARTERS but Smarters Player Lite is a free version of the product and IPTV Smarters Pro is the paid version (either purchase upfront or via in-app purchase from within Smarter Player Lite). Smarter Player Lite is designed to be a lightweight version of the player that enables you to play your M3U and JSON playlists in high quality. It also has a decent interface to enable you to add/remaxe/remove your playlists. IPTV Smarters Pro has more advanced settings/options for casting your channels/videos etc. as well as a few more ways to organize your channels. If you are just starting out and have simple playlists that you wish to play then the Smarter Player Lite version is perfect for you.

I have mixed results with this app. On my high-end Samsung phone, it works beautifully. However, on my older LG smart TV from 2018, the app exists but is extremely slow to use. It does finally play the content you want, but getting there is slow. So while the app is supported on my TV, the experience is not good. If you have an older smart TV and that’s your primary device, you may find better results using a newer streaming device such as a streaming stick or box. These typically have much better app support than smart TVs.

For my sketches of Alita, I try to approach them with very loose and loose energy. It's like we're having to choose the lesser of two evils. For now the app may have slightly better video quality (higher video bitrate) but the download for offline viewing to PC is severely restricted by the DRM. Occasionally the browser version may load slightly faster and use less system resources but then it will stutter on high action sequences.
Mostly I use both, because neither is really optimized for PC use. For serious movie watching I fire up the app, but for general browsing (e.g. to read an actor’s bio) or watching while I’m at my desktop working I tend to stick with the browser based version. Again, neither platform has committed to PC in a meaningful way, and both fall way behind the mobile/smart TV apps.

The conclusion to the story of this protagonist is basically a massive discussion point as to whether it is in fact a happy ending. For some characters it is utterly and extremely satisfying in a completely positive way. Others have somewhat bittersweet conclusions in which they have moved on from their various traumas in some way or another. As for me personally, the ending followed the hero of the story as he finally cast off the weight of his secret past and had found his liberation. Sure, there were some major scars along the way and, to this day, he is unlikely to be 100% healed from his many personal traumas but, as an ending, it feels utterly earned, highly emotional and, in the end, very hopeful. So happy? Well, that pretty much depends. A completely sugar-coated ‘they all lived happily ever after’ ending with no after effects would not have felt like nearly as valid or ‘real’ a conclusion for these characters. But an ending that is ultimately very happy for those that it feels is, then yes, it is a happy ending!
The story favored character closure over plot convenience. I appreciated that.

I have a list of published reviews for the different Apple TV models, ranging from the 2014 model to the latest 2021 model. I reviewed the 2014 model, 2016 model, 2018 4K model, 2020 Lite model and the latest 2021 4K Max model. The 2020 4K model was largely a refresh of the 2018 4K model, and therefore, didn’t warrant a full new review. However, the last three generations are really where it’s at for new Apple TV buyers. The first two are no longer worth the money unless you can get them for free.
