How Many Fire Tv Stick Generations Are Currently Available?

But the 5th gen Fire TV Stick 4K Max is a very different beast to the Fire TV Stick it began life as. Powered by Wi-Fi 6 and a more up-to-date processor, the new model should – in theory – deliver near-instant streaming, with almost zero chance of it Buffering. I’ve lost count of the number of generations of stick that Amazon has released over the years, but it’s clear that the company is continually refining each model to iron out previous problems. For example, the new Fire TV Stick’s remote now sports backlit buttons, which – as we noted in our hands-on – is a pretty key feature. But it’s also really interesting to see how far these little sticks have traveled: from struggling to render 1080p video to supporting Dolby Vision.

Five models of Fire TV Stick have existed: 1. The original (2014), 2. 2nd Gen (2016), 3. Fire TV Stick 4K (2018), 4. Fire TV Stick Lite (2020), and 5. Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2021). The only new model currently for sale from Amazon is the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2021), along with the two newer models of the regular 4K version (2020 refreshes of the model introduced in 2018): Fire TV Stick 4K (2020) and Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2021). The two oldest models, originally introduced in 2014 and 2016 respectively, are no longer for sale as new. But they still exist. So, if by “available” you mean in production and sold new, the answer is three. And if by “available” you mean exist in the world, the answer is five.
