Is it weird that I liked the heavier, more conflicted first book better? The sequel is sweet, but it lacked the gut-punch rawness for me. Still, it's clearly the next part of the story. It's set in a future where the hard work of ending something is done, and the different hard work of beginning something is underway.
It's a necessary 'after' for characters I grew attached to, even if I preferred the 'during.'

I have a friend who accidentally read the sequel first. She said she spent the whole book confused about why everyone was so obsessed with Atlas's tattoos and why Lily was so traumatized.
