Later on, it gets more into kingdom-building and magical conflicts. The tone stays relatively light, though there are some darker moments when the story explores the original prince's mysterious death and the political enemies circling his house. I found myself skimming some of the mid-story arcs that felt like filler, but the core premise carried me through. If you're into power-fantasy progression with a low-stakes, comedic core, it’s a decent time-killer.

The book leaves that hanging, which some readers hated but I found fitting.
