I have a few friends from Singapore, and apparently it’s available there. The real question is whether the stories are relevant enough though. I’ve found a lot of the content to be rooted deeply in the Indian and Pakistani culture, lots of references, slang and insight into their societies that can be hard to understand at times. It’s a great learning experience and often I have to look up words or even stories in full to understand better. But that’s all part of the fun really. It’s a bit like reading a foreign novel, in its native digital format. The platform itself is fine though. I’ve never had any issues with being actively blocked or something. In fact, they seem to be eager for more international readers. There might be a few cultural hurdles to get past in the Asia Pacific region, but otherwise it’s all good.

I get asked by my mom what app she uses for her daily dose of soap as well. Confused between two of her favorites, I had to sit her down and show her all the icons for each of her apps. In the end, I just put both of them on the TV, and labeled them, using each for what they are best at. Note that this approach requires a bit of a budget on your part.

I find it fascinating how the majority of the conversation around this topic revolves around legality and how not getting sued over the work of other people is key. But there is so much more ethics involved here. Do you really want to be consuming work that people put their blood, sweat and tears into and never see a cent for it? Is your convenience really more important than the work of the industry? I’m not saying that these sites aren’t safe. They exist on the fringes of the web. They’re funded by ads for gambling, or whatever. The whole thing is a means to exploit people’s desire to get free content online. There is no free lunch.

My aim when using such sites is to remember that I am not a customer, I am product that the site is trying to sell to the advertisers that pay for it. I click, I look at ads, I even contract malware on occasion. This is how they make their money and so long as I am able to remember this, I can use such sites safely enough should I have the skill to keep the site’s business model at arm’s length whilst using the site for its content.

As I mentioned before, for me, entertainment needs to be more than just ‘work’ to be enjoyable. Thus, I have no desire to visit the above mentioned sites. Although I am able to use them, I don’t want to. Firstly, I don’t have time for it during my leisure time. And secondly, there are far too many more interesting and far more pleasant ways to spend my free time and whilst closing down a pop-up or checking the task manager for any suspicious activity going on in the background, I can be doing so much more.

Quickly checking the technical side, I’d say there are clear signals you can use to judge whether dasi.net is tied to any official publishers or studios.

Start with WHOIS and DNS info: if the registrant or the registered organization field shows a corporate name that matches a publisher or studio, that’s a strong sign. Look at the SSL certificate too — sometimes the certificate's organization name will match the company behind the site. Then scan the site itself for official-looking contact emails (corporate domains like @publisher.com are a better sign than generic @gmail.com), press or partnership pages, and clear legal/licensing language. Official partners usually publish joint press releases or list partners on their own corporate site; if dasi.net is listed on publisher or studio pages, that’s confirmation.

On the flip side, absence of those things isn’t definitive proof it’s unofficial. Smaller official microsites or partner storefronts might be handled by third-party vendors. Also watch for misleading badges or copied logos — those can be faked. My gut is that transparency and cross-referencing matter most: if I can find the same partnership announced on a publisher’s official site or reputable industry news, I treat it as official. I feel better when a site uses verifiable corporate contacts and public press releases — that’s something I always look for when I want to trust a source.

If they’re smart they’ll go with an audio drama. Its production costs less than a typical animated TV series and with good voice acting and sound design, it can be highly immersive. This could be their first foray into production and I really hope that someone at Desi is considering an exclusive audio series for their site. They already have a written and visual dimension on the site, so an audio dimension could be added to give their fans another way to experience the web novel that they already publish on the site. It has a lower barrier to entry than than typical TV series, a quicker production time and could be used as a ‘proof of concept’ for other bigger productions.

I charge my tablet every night, connect to Wi-Fi, and download everything that I need for the next day before I go to bed. By morning everything is ready to download for my commute or my gym routine. It works great when the app works great!

My expectations for lunar权forall.View’s stream content were definitely managed before jumping in. I went in not expecting the super smooth, high production value kind of experience you get from some of the more popular streamers, and was (so far) pleasantly surprised by what did turn up. The site is a bit of a ‘hole in the wall’ type of place – lots of deep archives to rummage around in. In many ways, viewing the streams here is like browsing through a second-hand bookstore – I’m not here for the slick new releases with perfect covers. Every now and then I stumble upon something great, and it might have a fewMarks in the margin or a cracked spine. That kind of error (such as I’ve seen in subtitles) is just a footnote to the item’s history – and completely acceptable to me given the alternative. Not everyone will be able to view things this way, but it has certainly lessened my stress while using this platform.

It’s nice that the thumbnails do not contain any spoilers for the latest episodes. A lot of streaming services put very large thumbnails for the latest episodes on the screen to select episodes from. The thumbnails are often very spoilery for people who are catching up on a serialized drama. Desi.net takes a more sensible approach. Most of the episode thumbnails are just the standard poster for the show or a neutral shot from the latest episode. Thank you for understanding how people watch these types of shows. The streaming service delivers the story and the interface should not ruin it before they get to watch it. More services should be as thoughtful as this.

Looking at it from a creator’s perspective, I think that even if you’re using a VPN to pay for an Indian subscription, the money probably does end up reaching the producers and actors of a show through the platform’s share of revenue. This would make it a even ‘purer’ way to watch TV than pirating, although there are a lot of ‘in-betweens’ and ‘middle men’ that are not getting paid in pirating. The global distributor, local platform and creators get paid through official channels in your territory, according to the contracts in place with the different people involved along the chain. The ‘purest’ way to watch TV is therefore to pay for the content through the official channels that are in place for your territory, even if they are on a different platform.
