I'm a big believer in using a simple word association game. Write your core concept in the center of a page, then branch out with every related word, concept, and feeling. Do it fast, don't judge. Seeing them all physically mapped often reveals a surprising, catchy combo you'd never get from a linear tool. It’s messy but effective.

Man, I rely on a combo of things but lean way more on manual brainstorming than any fancy tool. Opening a thesaurus is step one—looking for synonyms with the right mouthfeel for the genre. Then I just scribble on a notepad, mixing and matching words until something clicks. The 'idea' feels more earned that way.
Tools like Title Generator from Reedsy or even some AI prompts can be useful for sparking, but the output often feels generic. I use them more to see patterns, like what kind of words they're pulling for a thriller versus a romance, and then I twist it myself. The real test is saying it out loud ten times and seeing if it still sounds cool.

Honestly? I've tried a lot of these 'quick title' apps and websites and most are garbage. They spit out clichés like 'Shadow's Whisper' or 'Eternal Flame' that make a book sound instantly forgettable. The only digital help I've found remotely useful is analyzing Amazon bestseller lists in my category. I copy a bunch of titles into a doc, break them down by structure, word choice, and length. That reverse-engineering teaches me more about market expectations than any generator.
Sometimes a good title just appears when you're not trying. I got the name for my last project while listening to a song lyric misheard. If you're stuck, step away from the tools completely.

Standing in a bridal suite in an ivory gown with a reception roaring beyond the doors, the last thing she remembers is a prison floor, a half-moon, and dying.
Valerie Hart is thirty-two years old, and she has just been given back her life.
Not the life she deserved but the one that was stolen from her by Anthony Lead, the charming, calculating billionaire's son who pursued her for two years, married her in the grandest ceremony the city had ever seen, and within weeks manipulated her into signing away her entire inheritance.
What followed was three years of abuse, a false criminal charge, six years of imprisonment, and a death on a cold prison floor that she never deserved.
But she begged the universe for one more chance. And the universe said yes.
Now it is June 5th, 2024, her wedding day; the shares are still in her name, and she remembers everything.
Every lie. Every betrayal. Every person who destroyed her.
This time Valerie plays an entirely different game.
She manages Anthony's ego with surgical precision while secretly building her escape, launching a business empire, fortressing her inheritance behind legal walls he cannot see, and publicly ending the marriage in December 2024.
Then she does something nobody anticipates.
She pursues Adrian Lead, Anthony's brilliantly, quietly powerful elder brother, the man she already knows is destined to inherit everything.
What begins as strategy becomes something neither of them planned for.
As Adrian falls for the one woman always three moves ahead of every room, Valerie realizes revenge was never going to be enough.
She wants to actually live.
Justice. On her terms. In her time.
Elena Cordova designed revolutionary algorithms for a multi-million-dollar company. The only formula she couldn't solve? Her own marriage.
After seven years of being the invisible wife to a cold billionaire, Elena is finally trading in her wedding ring for her worth. Marcus Ashford married her for obligation, hid her from the world, and replaced her with a woman who played the perfect stepmother. But when he finally pushes her too far, he discovers that the brilliant, betrayed woman he dismissed has been running calculations all along.
Now, Elena is back in the boardroom, her mind sharp, her fortune growing, and a handsome rival billionaire watching her every move. She wants revenge. She wants vindication. She wants her daughter back.
Marcus thought she was a social climber. He thought she was docile. He thought he could replace her. He was wrong.
He used her for her brilliance. Now, she'll use her brilliance to take everything back.
Divorce is just the beginning of her beautiful, calculated comeback.

He doesn’t expect Livia Moretti—the enigmatic archivist whose fragile intensity pulls him into a slow-burning, dangerous affair he never meant to start. Livia is brilliant, secretive, and a little broken… and Evan can’t stay away.
But when he finally tells his wife Leah he wants a separation, she collapses, claiming she’s been diagnosed with a devastating neurological disease. Overnight, Evan’s guilt becomes a trap. Then Livia disappears without a trace.
Anonymous photographs of him and Livia arrive in the mail.
A stranger begins watching his apartment.
And Leah—sweet, steady Leah—starts behaving in ways he can’t explain.

then who has been shaping his?
