How Does 'Weakest Beast Tamer Gets All SSS Dragons' End?
I just got way too invested in the arc—does that adorable underdog protagonist finally unlock all the divine dragons and turn things around?

Most stories with a dragon-themed power-up follow a fairly classic arc: the Tamer character masters all the dragons, gains enormous power, and then fights and defeats the person who previously oppressed or otherwise underscored them. But a more bitter, more politicized take on this sort of scenario would be a story like ‘The Last Dragon’s Enslaved Lycan Mate’, in which the main character is bound to a last dragon in a context of slavery, and the real story is the struggle to maintain a precarious, unequal alliance in a villainous supernatural court full of backstabbing politicians. It’s a tense, political story, full of reluctant and fraught moments between the two leads.

I just finished reading Weakest Beast Tamer Gets All SSS Dragons. This novel follows the storyline of the weakest Beast Tamer who develops an extraordinary bond with SSS-rank dragons. In the final arc, a gigantic battle takes place against the corrupt Beast Tamer Guild that has suppressed true strength for centuries. In the end, each of the SSS-rank dragons use their unique abilities and personalities to overcome their opponents under the protagonist’s control. The fire-dragon’s flight capabilities, the earth-dragon’s hard shell, and the shadow-dragon’s invisibility all play important roles in the huge battle against the Guild.
However, this ex-SSS-ranker proves to be the strongest of all time’s greatest tamers, a despicable being who betrayed his own dragons. His contrast to the main character, the weakest of all time greatest tamers, is astounding, especially since this main character is able to inspire abandoned creatures to fight against this black tamper. In the end, after toppling the strongest Black Tamer of all time, the system that determines the beast ranks is destroyed, and he establishes a shelter for those forsaken beasts. Years have gone by, and the once weakest of all time greatest tamers has become a legend, mentoring a whole new generation of the greatest tamers of all time.

weakest beast tamer gets all sss dragons is a great story, that follows the underdog protagonist as he battles against the oppressive hierarchy of the Beast Tamer world. In the end, the protagonist, using his SSS dragons (that everyone else thought he was using wrongly), will bring down the system in a spectacular battle. First, he uses his dragons in a beautiful display of synergy – creating a lightning storm, terraforming the landscape, etc. Then, in a surprising twist, the protagonist uses the Villain’s own enslaved beasts to defeat him, proving that true power comes from respect, not from control. The story ends with an epilogue that describes a reformed world where Beast Tamer and beast live in harmony.

Meh. It ends. Weakest Beast Tamer has followed the standard serialized power-fantasy setup: intro, suffering, first dragon, build-up to next dragon, next bigger threat, a plateau or two, final boss, save the world, then a peaceful ending to wrap everything up for the protagonist. Weakest Beast Tamer has checked off every box on that list. It’s been good comfort food, not some high-end gourmet meal, and I’m happy to have read it.

I finished it and felt a little empty. Not because the ending was bad, but because I would have liked to continue reading every week. This was such a good serial because the story itself ended well for the characters. The main character is looking at a sunset with their first dragon. So simple and quiet after all the previous chaos. Good end to a good story.

What exactly does it mean to be his bride?
***
Every year, in each of the seven villages that made up the great Kingdom of Ignas, a Choosing Ritual was conducted. During this Chosing Ritual, one of the ladies in the village would be chosen to be the dreaded Dragon King's Bride.
No one knew exactly why the ritual was being performed every year or what happened to the brides that had been chosen in the past.
Was he turning them into slaves?
Feeding them to his dragon?
Or was he... feeding on them?
That couldn't be ruled out. After all, there were rumours that the king wasn't like them, that he wasn't human.
Yet the question relentlessly troubled the people's heart.
What was he using them for?!
But they dared not question the King, afraid of what fate daring to go against him would be.
Anyways, none of these was Belladonna's business. Although it was her village's turn to produce a bride this year, she was certain she wouldn't get chosen.
Why?
Well, because she had a plan and she was absolutely certain it wouldn't fail her... or would it?
The day I went to the Shifter Mating Registry, I discovered my wolf-shifter boyfriend, Liam, hadn't registered me as his mate. He wrote Maya’s—his sister-in-law.
Seeing me freeze in disbelief, he just chuckled and ruffled my hair.
"Don't overthink it. Maya is pregnant with my dead brother's pup. The pup needs a legal guardian for the bloodline records."
"It's just a temporary mating contract. In three months, once the pup's lineage is certified, I'll break the bond and marry you."
He assumed a powerless human girl like me had no choice but to wait for him.
But he was wrong.
In the system, his highest compatibility match was indeed me.
But my highest match wasn't him.
That very night, I accepted a mating request from a Dragon shifter with a 100% match rate, and I left the city for good.
Three years later, my mother fell ill, forcing me back to North City.
My mate—Kaelan, the Supreme Dragon Chancellor—was delayed by a meeting. He contacted the local Shifter Guards to pick me up first.
I didn't expect to run into Liam.
He took one look at the crystal key in my hand and scoffed.
"I heard the Dragon Chancellor gave his mate the key to his treasure vault. There's only one in the world. Yours is a convincing fake, I'll give you that."
"Alright, three years of throwing a tantrum is enough. Maya's health is failing, and the pup is a handful. You're just in time to come back and help her."
I looked down at the crystal key in my palm.
A fake?
This key? It only unlocked the North City branch—the smallest of Kaelan's many private vaults.
Set after the war between the Dragon Emperor and the Blood Emperor, in which the two emperors united to protect all realms and the underworld. In a small world where no immortal beings dwell, a married couple lives with their only son.

On the day of the Dragon Bloodline Awakening at the Magic Academy, I became the laughingstock of the entire school.
Lucia, the most popular girl in our year, awakened the rare Phantom Dragon, while my boyfriend, Miles, resonated with the noble Frost Dragon.
As for me? My entire skin was covered in a thick layer of brown mud. I looked like a stray beggar.
Pictures of my disastrous awakening were pinned to the top of the academy’s forum.
The comment section was howling.
"Covered in mud... definitely the lowest-tier Swamp Dragon!"
"Oh my god, a Swamp Dragon Knight? Might as well be a normal person!"
"Can she please wear a mask from now on? Just looking at her makes me want to throw up my dinner!"
Lucia intentionally recorded my miserable state and put it on a loop online. Miles even started a betting pool on the forum:
"Taking bets! Do you think our Swamp Loach will dare to show up at the Contract Ceremony tomorrow night?"
"I bet 5,000 crystals she won't dare! She might even drop out tomorrow, hahaha!"
The whole academy went crazy placing bets, the mocking comments rolling in one after another.
Everyone was waiting for me to become a joke, hiding and crying in my dorm room.
I stared at the soaring prize pool and couldn't help but smirk.
They bet I wouldn't dare to come.
I was only worried that when my dragon appeared, they’d wet their pants.
After all, the bloodline I resonated with was the Primordial Divine Dragon.

When my sister and I were born, a prophet foretold that my sister would fall into a deep depression because I was more gifted than she was.
On the day of the Fire Dragon Clan's Trial, she would throw herself into the frozen lake and never resurface.
To protect her, my parents locked me in the freezing chamber on the day of the Trial.
I knelt and begged them until my knees bled.
My mother shoved me inside and sealed the door from the outside with a barrier.
"You know your sister will die because of you, and you still insist on taking the Trial? How is that anything but trying to get her killed?"
The chamber had already dropped to a hundred and twelve degrees below zero, yet I was wearing nothing but a short-sleeved shirt.
I threw myself against the barrier, desperate to break out.
"Mother, it's freezing in here! Please let me out!"
"You're a fire dragon. A little cold can't hurt you. Who are you trying to fool?"
My mother's voice was edged with impatience.
"The barrier blocks your magic, but we didn't even turn on the refrigeration system. Your sister will be safe soon. Can't you think of her for once?"
The sound of their wingbeats faded.
My scales cracked from the cold, and blood dripped onto the floor.
The barrier had sealed away my magic, and the chill quickly sank deep into my bones.
I knelt on the floor as my body stiffened, inch by inch.
