The sanctuary shook. Adrian stood. “What was that?” Eden looked toward the ground. “Something is coming.” The First Ones suddenly backed away. Their leader looked toward Elena. “You shouldn’t have remembered.” Elena stared at him. “Why?” “Because now the fourth life has awakened.” “What is the fourth life?” He looked frightened. “The beginning.” Elena’s stomach tightened. “The beginning of what?” He didn’t answer. Her mother did. “The beginning of everything.” The ground split. A wave of silver energy erupted from beneath the sanctuary.
