Matthias shouted to his parents, "Send Katana to my chambers now. Emma is in danger!" Matthias faded and entered their room to find Emma fading fast as a shadow sat upon her with a pillow held upon her head, suffocating her. He knew her heartrate was falling fast, and she was not long for this world. Charging at the shadow, he passed right through and fell upon the floor next to Emma. He was shocked at the power of the shadow and yet he couldn't attack it via normal means, he managed to pull the pillow away from her face and heard her breathing hitch, as she managed to take in the air to sustain her lungs.

Sandra charged towards her that instance, Lexi closed her eyes. To Lexi, it felt like she closed her eyes for a long time, but when she opened them, Sandra was on the ground, and next to her was Margie who was also writhing in pain. The sisters looked at Lexi in shock, silence walked in their midst. Lexi turned to Gina who was also looking at her in amazement. "Is it over?" Lexi asked Gina. Gina slowly nodded. CHAPTER THIRTEEN Cassian's Pursuit The ember-infused carriage cut through the night like a blade of living fire, its gilded exterior catching moonlight as it sped along the mountain pass toward Shadoweave. Cassian Holt sat rigid within its luxurious confines, his copper hair gleaming in the ambient light generated by the small ember crystals embedded in the carriage walls. People have sought answers there, but only a handful have returned. Those who do are often changed, not themselves anymore. Some go mad, others are forever silent. The shadows flickering around the arrow seemed to stretch toward me, curling like tendrils hungry for skin. And then I heard her voice. Ember. He has sent a message and as long as those shadows still move like they are alive then he would be able to see and hear all that goes on in here.” My throat dried. My gaze flicked to the nobles behind me, still muttering nervously, their voices were too loud as they talked about the prophecy amongst themselves. If Ember was right… Veyran was listening. Emilia asked, her heart racing with fear. Ryder hesitated before answering. "It's a shadow within you, Emilia. A dark presence that's been awakened by your powers. We need to get rid of it before it consumes you completely." Emilia felt a chill run down her spine. She knew that she had to face this shadow, but she was afraid of what she might find. We needed to know what it looked like on the other side so we could get there but without knowing we had no way in. Before we reacted to do anything, the roof on the far end of the cave opened up. There were two teenagers and a bald man who exited the jet with the black-haired man. I recognised the bald man from the mall when I was with Jack and Ashton, when I had a feeling that we were being followed.
