I muttered, mostly to myself, but Adam’s chuckle told me he’d heard.
“It’s just like getting into a car, really,” he said, his voice dropping an octave, a low rumble that vibrated through the air between us. “Except the car has a mind of its own, preferences, and occasionally tries to eat your hair.”
I blinked at him. “That was not helpful.”
He grinned, the kind of dangerously charming grin that probably made supermodels spontaneously combust. “It was meant to be funny.”
“My panic is not funny, Adam.”
“Oh, but it is, Sunshine. Adorably so.”
