His intoxicating scent of musk and masculinity surrounds me and I can't think of anything else. "Close your eyes," the Watchman says before a web of white light shrouds us both. Everything happens so quickly and when the white light fades, my body is instantly released from the Watchman's arms. I open my eyes and incredibly, I'm standing next to the Volvo. I look up at him and I can tell he already knows what's about to come out of my mouth. "How in the hell did you do that?" He looks down, like he doesn't know how to tell me, then shifts his eyes back to mine. "You have not lost any time."

"I don't give a shit. She's mine, and you're not coming anywhere near her." The front door opened, and Alpha Morgan came out while putting on his leather jacket. Ava's father looked like a leader of a motorcycle gang, complete with the tattoos. It took a special kind of wolf to get those done. Human tattoos faded as they healed, but wolf tattoos had a kick to them. Alpha Morgan looked at Jared and then at him before he said, "Come on, kid. I have this urge to see Ava's coach." Ava ignored the simmering heat in her tummy at his accent, she'd only noticed the accent when he was coaxing her to take him in and whispering dirty nothingness to her.

Upon closer inspection, the box in her arms was the same one that Ava had brought the bracelets in.

“Now that you have no husband, I’m worried, beta.” I smiled faintly. “Nana, I swear to you, I’m fine. I’ll come visit.” Her face softened, but I could tell she didn’t quite believe me. Once she returned to cooking, I checked my phone, and froze. The feed was live, my heart began to pound. He was wearing it. Mr. Everhart had finally put on the wristwatch. The footage was shaky at first, jerky even, since the microcamera was hidden inside the crown of the watch, right between the ridges where the dial met the base. Every movement of his wrist made the camera tilt, showing me fragmented views of walls, shoes, and flashes of papers.
