Rose’s POV: Oh, wonderful. Another rehearsal with Jace. Isn’t my life just one big, thrilling Broadway production? I could practically hear the applause as I plop back down on the bed in my less-than-glamorous room, my hands awkwardly folded in my lap. Yep, this is my life now: rehearsing a wedding, while my future husband—who I barely know—stands there and pretends to care. Meanwhile, I can't even find a comfortable position on this damn bed. The pillows are too fluffy, the sheets too... pristine. Doesn't it feel perfect, Rose? Just like you always imagined your wedding night to be.

I opened the door leading to the rooftop, and we walked out. With the remote in my hand, I switched on the lights, and a colourful lemon green illuminated the space. There were clothes spread on the ground, creating a make-shift mat, the scented candles lined its edges. The soft pillows and books were placed beside the mat.

"Because there's a lot to go through and if this doesn't go right, you will be killed, Rose! Or does that mean nothing to you?" I wince at his tone, mostly because he's talking too loud but I'm not fond of the thought of being killed either. "Okay, I'm getting up. let me get dressed and I'll meet you in the living room." "You're wearing this tonight." He places a cardboard box on my bed. "It's not our first choice for you but when it comes to humans there are certain dress codes that need to be upheld so..." He trails off, growing uncomfortable. "It's fine. Now go so I can change."
