Begging for Nothing
Today, she had gone all out, determined to let Zachary see her at her most beautiful one last time.
"It's fine. If they don't show, we'll just sue for divorce."
Just then, a car came speeding toward us from afar, screeching to a halt right beside us.
It was Lucas and Zachary. They climbed out looking utterly defeated, their movements slow and hesitant, like stray dogs slinking forward, as if walking slowly enough would somehow stop us from divorcing them.
But nothing could change now.
"Let's go."
They remained frozen in place, their heads hanging as they looked at us pitifully.
