The crossroads were tinged with a subtle orange of the setting sun. The chickens had already retired into their coop for the night.
Bhoomika stood in her backyard, gazing longingly into the distance, as if expecting someone. There was a power blackout, and it was quite dark and eerie.
She wasn’t quite sure, but she thought she could see a faint movement in the distance. She strained her eyes and soon enough saw someone closing in.
It was the tall, handsome stranger from the train, the one who entertained her with his theatrics every day. He paused outside the fence and smiled at her.
