“It gets a lot worse if you don’t start talking. Now.”
He laughed—a broken, defiant sound. “I’ll never talk. Never. You’ve made an enemy of the COIN Mafia. If you think I’d betray them, you’re already dead.”
His eyes burned with certainty, not fear.
“You’ll die before I give you anything,” he continued. “Brotherhood means something to us.”
I studied his face, searching for hesitation, a crack, anything I could use. There was nothing. No weakness. No doubt. Just loyalty carved in stone.
