Charlie Morningstar Novels & Stories

He is my Great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather. In this family, only sons were ever born. I was special, as my parents say. Ever since Pops(Lucifer) started living here on Earth, I am the very first daughter. I’m Zaria Morningstar. A Senior in Capitol Hills High School, hopeful to graduate this year. The school bell rang, time for the lunch break. I am not the it-girl famous type, but people do nod or smile at me in the hallway. People know me, the surname stood out. I guess Pops’ “shine” never really fades.

“I thought you - haha - did not know Maxwell?” Dawn fell silent. After a second, she said, “Um. Charlie, I need to buy some meds for my mom. I gotta go. Bye.” Charlie’s mouth fell on the floor. She could not believe her friend! After lending her money, Dawn would not even share more juicy details. “Jeez. She could at least give me something - anything!” “I swear,” Charlie declared. “When I get back to Luxford, I’m going to get to the bottom of things.”

Then he dropped the file he was holding on the center table and walked over to Marie. “You must be our new girlfriend,” he grinned at her, which for some unknown reason annoyed me. It was even worse because Marie blinked and her demeanor changed. She looked at Charlie as if he was a golden angel. What was that word again? Mesmerized. “My name's Charlie Wilkins, Head of PrimeTelecoms PR. But you can call me Charlie.” He winked at her and I’d seen enough. I cleared my throat loudly and stopped whatever the fuck was happening before I ended up strangling someone.
