Even the angels knew I’d break that promise.
“Okay. Remember I told you I got a new boyfriend in school?” she said, and my mood went dark, jaw tightening, my grip on her hand squeezing harder. Jealousy hit me like a fucking truck, burning my chest.
“Yeah,” I said, voice flat, not wanting to hear about her damn boyfriend, the last thing I needed.
“He cheated on me. I caught him fucking my ex-best friend,” she said, her gaze drifting, staring into space, pain all over her face.
