The Obsidian Covenant #1: The Rejected Mate's Ruin

The Obsidian Covenant #1: The Rejected Mate's Ruin

It was a subsonic groan that rattled my ribcage. The Celestial Spire shuddered. The glittering mass that had occupied the sky for three centuries tilted. The lights on the lower levels flickered. Then they died. The humming vibration of the gravity engines cut out. The absence of that sound was a physical weight pressing against my eardrums. The city tipped. It was subtle at first. A three-degree list to the east. Then, the nose dropped. "She's doing it," Wolfy breathed. His voice was a thin, high-pitched tremor. He adjusted his glasses with shaking fingers. His pupils were blown wide, swallowing the blue of his irises.

Secret Spy in High School

Secret Spy in High School

As Albert waited for his PC to show the contents of the memory card, Hestia picked up the cryptex and analyzed it. The cryptex was as long as her index finger and two fingers wide. Around it was the mechanism of the cryptex: letters etched in rotatable rings and two glass caps that sealed the glass tube itself. The inside of the glass tube cannot be seen, so it leaves them the need to solve the code--- or the cryptex itself.

The Chosen Bride

The Chosen Bride

“You never had them.” His expression collapsed. “No,” he whispered. “No… that’s not… no.” He tried one last pathetic swing—an arc so telegraphed and slow it almost felt insulting. I blocked it. Grabbed him by the collar. And slammed him into the catwalk post so hard the bolts cracked. “I want you to understand this,” I said quietly, deadly calm. “Everything you built ends with you.” And then— I shoved him. Hard. The railing snapped. Cipher’s body went over the edge, both arms flailing, a strangled scream torn from his throat as he fell two stories and hit the concrete below with a thick, final thud.

The Secretly Rich Man

The Secretly Rich Man

With that, everyone from Lech’s team began scanning high and low for a way to leave the underground palace… Gerald and his party, on the other hand, stood before the wheel, studying it to see if it had any way of getting them out of there… Sometime later, Ray declared, “…Mr. Crawford! There appears to be a mechanism of sorts down here that can be turned!” Upon hearing that, Gerald squatted down and saw that Ray was right. There was indeed a round mechanism that looked like it could be turned… Old Flint himself then said, “If my guess is correct, turning that round mechanism should activate this wheel!” Momentarily turning to face Old Flint, Gerald then nodded. He believed in the old man’s wi

It's a good book as far as I have read so far. I'm getting discouraged, though. I'm running out of patience and time for these types of stories. "Neverending" stories where some chapters repeat themselves for some reason or other drives me bunkers. Just saying. I prefer shorter stories.

Reclaiming Mrs. Wolfe

Reclaiming Mrs. Wolfe

I took the blackened tungsten ring from my finger and forced it into the open gear of the petrified loom, jamming the teeth of the master relay with the one piece of metal that refused to be calibrated. The countdown clock on the device screen didn't hit zero. It froze at *00:00:03*. The mercury wall behind Clara didn't just ripple; it blew outward with a heavy, metallic thud, the liquid fluid draining instantly into a dark, horizontal crevice we hadn't seen before—a tunnel that smelled sharply of fresh pine, woodsmoke, and the damp earth of the North.

Cultivation with a System in the Modern World

Cultivation with a System in the Modern World

Grandmaster Abraham looked at the coin in confusion. The coin kept spinning and it stopped and fell in the middle of the arrangement of coins. Grandmaster Abraham looked at the coin arrangement and said " At first I could read the arrangement but now I can read something." Grandmaster closed his eyes and thought of something. He then abruptly opened his eyes. He looked at Master Quintan and said " I can decipher only 4 words from my nonagram and the words are THE ONE IS HERE" As soon as Grandmaster said that, the Celestial Stargate began to rumble.

After Divorce, I became the CEO of my Ex-Husband's Company

After Divorce, I became the CEO of my Ex-Husband's Company

he whispered, his voice raw, a promise that steadied me even as the world burned. Plot twist one: the journal’s final page wasn’t a code, but a message in my father’s handwriting: *Forgive me, Sophia. The cipher is you.* My heart stopped—the drives, the journal, weren’t the true cipher; I was, my memories of his starlit lessons the key to unlocking the data. I closed my eyes, picturing Orion, his belt a pattern my father drilled into me, a sequence to override the system. I typed it into the console, my fingers shaking, and the countdown froze at one second, the screens stabilizing, data secure.

The Ninth Cipher

The Ninth Cipher

One flame. Then two... Then all nine. The temperature dropped instantly. Evelyn wrapped her jacket tighter. "What are they doing?" The stranger looked up. "They're counting." "Counting what?" He didn't answer. Instead, he stared at Adrian's brass key. The engraved numbers were changing again. 9... 18... 41... 1... And now... 2 Lucien's eyes widened. "The Second Cipher has already chosen its location." Adrian frowned. "You mean we're supposed to go there next?"

Just for two weeks

Just for two weeks

"Be mindful." McEwan said that if this cryptex were like those she had opened, all she would need to do is grip the cylinder at both ends, just beyond the dials, and pull, applying slowly, steady pressure in opposite directions. If the dials were properly aligned with the password, the one of the ends would slide off, much like a lens cap, and she could reach inside and remove the rolled document, which would be wrapped around the vial of vinegar. However, if the password they had entered were incorrect. McEwan's outward force on the ends would be transferred to a hinged lever inside, which would shift downward into the cavity and apply pressure to the glass vial, eventually shattering it if

Reborn As The Villainess Luna In My Favorite Series

Reborn As The Villainess Luna In My Favorite Series

The white grid above us kept swallowing the ceiling, drop by drop, like milk spilling across a dark table. Leo was flat on his stomach near a massive bronze wheel that rose straight out of the floor. The metal wasn't plain; it was covered in deep, blocky grooves that looked like gears but didn't click into anything. His blue windbreaker was torn at the elbow, revealing a patch of red, scraped skin. He didn't look up as the white light grew brighter, his fingers tearing at three thick copper cables that were growing out of the base of the wheel.
