From the next cell, Zeph’s chains rattled violently, his growl echoing through the stone.
“Get away from her!” he roared.
Jade didn’t even glance his way. He picked up a syringe from the tray… filled with a viscous, dark green liquid that shimmered unnaturally under the dim light.
“This one’s special,” he said conversationally, tapping the glass to dislodge bubbles. “Damian’s been refining it. Designed to suppress that legendary Lynix resilience without killing the host… or the little passenger you’re carrying.”
My blood turned to ice. I jerked against the chains instinctively, protective fury flaring even through the haze.
