BLURB: In a shadowed world ruled by ancient wolf packs, power is carried in blood and sealed by bonds. Nalani has always fought to belong. Fierce, stubborn, and unbreakable, she carves her path as a warrior, refusing to bow to anyone’s expectations. But beneath her fire burns a truth she never imagined: her blood is silver. Her lineage is Lynix… a near-extinct breed immune to silver and bound to a prophecy that could shatter or save every kingdom. Heartbroken and rejected by her childhood crush, she buries her pain in relentless training, determined to rise above everyone. Then the mate bond awakens. Not once. Twice. Caspian and Kieran are twin alphas… brothers by birth, enemies by choice. One is brooding and unyielding, a wall of quiet control. The other is charming and reckless, a storm hiding behind a smirk. Both are hers… fated, possessive, and caught between the hatred that divides them and the pull that binds them to her. The bond is electric, consuming, impossible to ignore. They cannot share without tearing each other apart. Yet neither can let her go. As the tournament nears and danger circles closer… anonymous threats, shadowy figures, Nalani must face the family she thought she knew, the mates who both claim her soul, and the power she never wanted. She can run. She can fight. She can deny the bond that burns through her veins. But the moon does not bargain. In a world where love can heal or destroy, where twin alphas must share what they once fought to possess, and where a single drop of silver blood could bring ruin or redemption, Nalani will have to choose: embrace the Lynix within her and risk everything, or reject it and lose the only thing that has ever felt like home.

Chapter 1 - SHATTERED

Nalani’s POV

“Wake up, Bianca.”

The words barely left my mouth before my sister let out another long, dramatic snore. She was buried so deep under her blanket that only a chaotic explosion of ginger hair poked out, like flames trying to escape a smothering cloud. Typical Bianca… sleeping like the world owed her eight more hours.

“Go away,” she mumbled, voice thick and muffled.

I rolled my eyes so hard I felt it in my temples, then yanked the blanket away in one clean sweep. Cool morning air hit her skin; she yelped and flailed.

“Get ready. We’re not missing the opening of mating season because you decided to hibernate.”

Before she could protest, I launched myself onto her bed. The mattress springs groaned under my weight, catapulting her sideways. She landed on the hardwood floor with a solid, satisfying thud.

“Oh no… I’ve awakened the dragon,” I said in mock horror, peeking over the edge with one eye wide and the other squinted shut.

“NALANI!” Her roar echoed off the walls as she scrambled upright, cheeks flushed crimson, hair even wilder now. She shot me a glare before stomping toward the bathroom, muttering a string of creative curses under her breath.

I collapsed back onto her pillows, grinning at her from the edge of the bed, but my heart was already racing with nervous energy.

Tonight had to go perfectly.

I had spent years training like my life depended on it… earning the nickname “Stormy” for my fiery temper and refusal to back down.

Everything I did was for one goal: to become a respected warrior and raise my family’s status in the pack. My parents had sacrificed so much for us. If I could climb high enough, maybe even earn a place guarding just one of the elite Gold Moon wolves… it would change everything for me. For all of us.

And tonight, at the mating ceremony, I hoped the Moon Goddess would finally bless me with a mate who saw my worth. Someone who would stand beside me as I fought my way to the top.

Someone like Ryker.

I slipped into my room and caught my reflection. Red hair cascaded in thick waves down my back. The black floral gown clung to my body, the high slits flashing my long legs with every movement. I looked strong. Confident. Ready.

Please let him choose me tonight.

“After you finish staring at yourself, can you get out of my room?” Bianca’s voice snapped from the bathroom doorway. She stood wrapped in a towel, arms crossed, expression a perfect blend of irritation and exhaustion.

“Fine, fine.” I raised both hands in mock surrender and backed toward the door. “But hurry. We’re not walking in late and looking like we don’t belong.”

I slipped into my own room, my mind drifting to the brutal training schedule ahead. Mating season always overlapped with tournament season… a blood-and-sweat proving ground where warriors fought for rank, glory, and the favor of the higher packs. I’d been drilling since I was a teen, determined to climb the ladder until I stood among the elite guardians who protected the Gold Moon royals themselves. The prestige would change everything for my family. For me.

Each pack had an order of hierarchy, at the very top sat the Gold Moon wolves: regal, untouchable, their golden-flecked eyes marking them as near-gods among us. They ruled the council, commanded the armies, held the sacred grounds. Below them came the Silver Moon wolves… Lynix, they were called. A near-extinct breed whose blood carried the silver strain, making them impervious to the metal that killed every other wolf. Legends said they could heal from wounds that should’ve been fatal, walk through silver-laced traps unscathed. But a war or perhaps a plague… had wiped them out generations ago. Or so the stories went. I scrunched my nose, trying to remember if Mother had ever mentioned survivors but the memory slipped away like mist.

Then came the warrior lines: Grey Moon, Violet Moon, and the Red Moon wolves just like my father, fierce and loyal, eyes rimmed crimson when mated. White Moon wolves held the revered healer role, their pale eyes glowing softly in the dark. At the bottom were the Purple Moon wolves… servants, messengers, cooks, cleaners… eyes deep violet, lives quiet and essential.

And outside of it all lurked the Black Moon wolves consisting of a group of rogues that formed a pack existing outside the traditional hierarchy as they were considered outcasts. Though not integral to our society, they maintain their own separate spaceworld.

In every pack, wolves knew their rank and could identify one another by the color of their eyes, which matched the type of wolf they were: purple with purple eyes, gold with gold, and so on. The only exception was unmated wolves, who kept their natural eye color and remained unaware of their true wolf type until they found their mate. Until then, they could volunteer to serve as a warrior or a servant.

I had chosen to become a warrior the day I turned thirteen. Nothing else had ever felt right. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I put the finishing touches of the red lipstick on my lips, taking a last glance at the black floral gown I had on, the slit at the sides revealed my beautiful long legs with every step, sleek, dangerous… I was ready to go.

“Bianca, let's go or else we'll be late?" I yelled down the hall. She appeared at the top of the stairs, petite next to my taller frame, most men considered me beautiful with softer features unlike hers but I loved her all the same.

I grabbed her hand and tugged her along, refusing to let her dark mood dim the spark in my chest. My mother’s voice chased us out the front door.

“Nalani! Walk like a proper female for once… don’t be so strong-headed if you want a mate! And keep an eye on your sister!”

The Oakwood pack clearing had been transformed into something out of a dream. Tables draped in flowing white linen stood in neat rows, chairs arranged around them like silent sentinels. Flowers spilled everywhere… crimson roses, night-blooming jasmine that glowed faintly as the sun dipped toward the horizon. Strings of twinkling lights hung overhead, mimicking a sky full of captured stars. The air smelled of fresh earth, blooming petals, and the thousand mingled scents of wolves from every pack. New faces moved through the crowds as we walked the grounds. My gaze scanned restlessly, searching for one person in particular.

A tight knot of she-wolves stood frozen near the central bonfire, eyes wide and glassy, fixed on a single figure moving through the throng.

“Who is that?” I asked Bianca, nudging her.

She didn’t answer. Her gaze had gone dreamy too, lips parted slightly.

I followed their collective stare. An imposing aura rolled off the man like heat from forge coals, unmistakably Alpha. Tall, dark-haired, broad-shouldered, he navigated the crowd with predatory grace. Wolves bowed deeply as he passed; he barely inclined his head in acknowledgment. The faint scent of him drifted on the breeze… pine, smoke, something darker and wilder underneath. My wolf stirred inside me, suddenly alert, ears pricked.

My breath caught in my throat. What in the Moon’s name was wrong with me? I was here for Ryker. Not some mystery Alpha every female in the clearing wanted to sink her claws into.

Shaking off the strange pull, I left Bianca gossiping with a cluster of packmates and pushed deeper into the grounds in search of the man I’d pinned my hopes on for years.

I spotted Smith first.

“Hey, Stormy!”

I jogged over and we bumped fists, the familiar greeting grounding me.

“Where have you been? You’re late,” I teased, folding my arms and pretending to be mad.

He scrunched his nose. “Missed my company that much? Thought your head was full of Ryker.”

I punched his abs lightly… solid muscle under my knuckles. “Ouch,” he fake-winced, clutching his side dramatically while I rolled my eyes.

“You’ve skipped training for weeks. Changed your mind about being a warrior?”

“Of course not.” I softened. “Just… busy. And my wolf’s been restless. Mating season’s got her pacing like a caged thing.”

“That explains why you smell different,” he said casually, tilting his head as if sniffing the air around me.

I froze. “I smell… weird?”

“Not bad weird,” he assured me quickly. “Just… different. Probably normal for some wolves this close to the season. Hormones or whatever.”

I lifted my arm and sniffed discreetly. Nothing unusual. But as we walked back toward the main clearing, I noticed other wolves wrinkling their noses when they passed, shooting me sidelong glances. Heat crept up my neck, embarrassment mixing with confusion.

I hung back from the thicker crowds, scanning faces, heart beating a little faster now.

Then I saw Bianca.

She was off to the side, swaying slightly… already tipsy, talking to a tall stranger whose eyes roamed her body with open, predatory hunger. His hand had slid too low on her waist, fingers digging in.

Not on my watch.

I strode over, ignoring the odd looks that trailed me like shadows.

“Let go of her. Now,” I ordered, voice cutting through the music like a blade.

The man straightened to his full height, easily towering over me and smirked. “And who are you, pretty wolf?”

His gaze dragged down my body slowly, lingering on my hips, my legs exposed by the slits. Disgust curled hot in my stomach.

“My face is up here, moron.”

He chuckled low. “Feisty one. Though you smell a little… off.”

I ignored the jab. People were starting to stare. I didn’t want a scene.

I yanked Bianca’s arm. “We’re leaving.”

His eyes burned into my back… specifically my backside making my skin crawl.

I rounded the corner too fast and slammed into a solid wall of muscle.

Ryker.

“Where have you been?” I snapped, anger already boiling from the stranger’s leer. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”

Before he could answer, a sharp, mocking voice cut through the air behind me.

“Well, if it isn’t the smelly wolf making a scene again.”

A tall, curvaceous woman with glossy black hair and blood-red nails stepped out from the growing crowd.

Sheila.

She looked me up and down with open disgust while everyone watched.

“Causing drama and embarrassing yourself in front of the entire pack. How pathetic.”

My cheeks burned as more wolves turned to stare. Whispers rippled through the crowd.

Sheila’s gaze shifted past me and landed on Ryker. A cruel smile spread across her face. She sauntered over to him, slid her arms around his neck, and pulled him into a deep, full kiss right on the lips.

Ryker responded instantly, his hand gripping her waist, kissing her back without hesitation, like it was the most natural thing in the world.

No… it can’t be.

I stood frozen, the sight punching a hole straight through my chest. The boy I had loved for years was kissing another woman passionately while I watched.

Sheila finally pulled back, lips glistening, and looked straight at me with pure triumph.

“Oh come on,” she sneered, still pressed against Ryker’s side. “You didn’t actually think Ryker would choose someone like you, did you? A nobody? over someone like me. You’re probably just a Purple Moon wolf like your maid mother… good for cleaning and serving, not much else.

Don’t fool yourself into thinking you could ever become a real warrior like us.”

The words sliced deep. I had trained for years, pushed myself just as hard as anyone all to uplift my family’s name and prove I belonged. And yet the one person I thought believed in me was standing with his arms wrapped around another woman as she told me in front of the pack that I was worthless.

I looked desperately at Ryker, my voice cracking. “Ryker… say something. Please.”

He stayed silent at first, just watching with cold eyes. Then he finally spoke, his voice flat and indifferent.

“Nalani don't pretend, you know I was only using you to pass time. You couldn’t even compare to Sheila. She’s a Violet Moon wolf… refined, beautiful, and actually knows how to please me.”

He leaned in closer, lowering his voice to a whisper. “Besides, you never let me touch you. It’s your own fault I went looking elsewhere.”

The pain hit like a silver blade straight to my chest. All those nights I held back because I wanted our first time to mean something… he had thrown it back in my face. I wasn’t enough. I had never been enough. Not as a warrior. Not as a woman. Not even as a potential mate.

Tears stung my eyes. I stepped forward, trying to reach him. “Ryker, we…”

Sheila shoved me hard in the chest, forcing me back. “Don’t embarrass yourself any further.”

I stumbled, humiliation burning through every inch of me. My wolf whimpered inside, curling up in shame.

Then a loud, commanding voice rang out from the back of the crowd… deep, powerful, and laced with undeniable Alpha authority.

“Enough.”

The air itself seemed to thicken with raw power. Wolves around us froze, heads turning toward the source, murmuring in awe as they tried to see who possessed such immense dominance.

In that moment of distraction, I grabbed Bianca’s hand tightly.

“Let’s go,” I whispered, voice breaking. I would never let them see me break.

We slipped through the stunned crowd before anyone could stop us. Tears streamed down my face as we ran. I didn’t look back. I didn’t see who the voice belonged to.

All I could feel was the crushing weight of not being good enough… the dream I had built my entire life around crumbling in a single night.
