I bit my lip and looked up at River, hoping he had an answer.
“We got into a fight,” River said truthfully. “Then Dallas ran off to the creek and fell in. I saved her, and she had to change her clothes.”
I stared at him in disbelief and awe because that was almost believable.
Helen raised her eyebrows but chuckled. Helen shook her head. She Probably already knew what we were really up to. “Xavier and Lyle are upstairs asleep,” Helen said.
We nodded in understanding.
When Helen walked away, River and I bursted into a fit of laughter. River and I looked up at the party. We both watched as Hunter walked to his vehicle. Hunter stole one last glance from me.
