The corner of my mouth twitched upward.
Chloe froze. "What?"
I slowly stood up, brushing the dust off my knees. The pained look on my face vanished.
Chloe's jaw practically hit the floor. "But... the heart attack! Why aren't you dead?"
I said coldly, "If I hadn't played dead, how would I have gotten you to admit you were trying to murder me?"
She blinked, then scoffed, regaining her composure. "So what? You can't call the cops. You aren't actually hurt. Worst-case scenario, I get detention and a lecture."
