"These are the harnesses Percy and I use when riding on the backs of various creatures," Darla explains, with an air too casual for it to be genuine.
There is, after all, what Alcina realizes is glee underlining Darla's words. "Adjusted, of course, for a creature much larger than what we are used to."
Darla doesn't wink, but she doesn't have to.
When her glance flickers back to Alcina, it is so riddled with implications that Alcina finds her lips pulling into a small, answering smile as her hands close around the metal, too.
