The PA system clicked off, leaving only silence and the sound of Elias's labored breathing.
I adjusted his weight in my arms, preparing to move, when the vents above suddenly hissed to life. Silver mist began pouring out—thick, concentrated, so much denser than before. It rolled across the ceiling like a living thing, reaching down with ghostly tendrils that seemed to seek me out specifically.
My vision blurred immediately.

I stumbled, my legs suddenly heavy and unresponsive. The mist wrapped around us like a suffocating blanket, and I could feel my Ghost Wolf power flickering, fighting against whatever corruption Kelly had loaded into this upgraded trap.
