CHAPTER 4

“W-Why? Why would I?” Is he going to hurt me? Or k-kill me? Oh, no!

“Hey, idiot!! Just leave her alone!”

“Shut up-- “ the guy didn’t finish what he was going to say because Jared punch him in the cheek… wait, what Jared? The one that Celine’s talking about, the famous guy at Moon Crest Academy?

Right, I remember Celine told me that he’s typically a bad boy type. I shouldn’t get closer to him because I might get in trouble. I didn’t get closer to him yet, but then I am getting into trouble right away. Is this a joke or what?

I step back a little when Jared is walking towards me. I blink many times and now he’s already in front of me.

“Let’s go.” He said and grabbed my hand. 

I can feel my heart beating so fast, it’s weird. We’re running, but I’m not tired. What I mean is, that I think my heart is beating so fast because he held my hand. Am I right? 

“Hey, Jared! We’re not done yet!!” the guy shouted.

Jared stop for a moment, he turned around and raised his middle finger. “Just shut your f**king mouth bastard!!”

And then he held my hand and started running away from them. My gaze is on our hand.

He stops by into a store and still, he’s holding my hand.

“L-Let go of my h-hand.” He looked at me. I can’t see any emotions in his eyes.

“Oh, right?” He said and he let go of my hand.

“What’s your name, miss?” He asked.

“It’s a secret.” Why would he like to know my name?

“Ah, your name is secret.” I heard him chuckle.

“My name is not secret, it's Eunice.” I calmly said to him and I saw him smirk.

“Hmm, I don’t think I need to introduce myself because you already know who I am, right?” I raised my eyebrows.

“M-Maybe...?”

“Wait, you don’t know me? I think I saw you in the cafeteria early...”

Did he notice me? I didn't expect that he will notice me because there are so many students in the cafeteria.

“Damn! I don’t know why I’m wasting my time on you. I ” he said and that made my jaw almost drop.

“What? Then, just leave if you don’t want to waste your time. I didn’t ask you to waste your time with me! You’re the one who grabs my hand and brings me here."

“That’s why I’m asking myself, why?!” He sarcastically said.

“Why are you looking at me like that?! Do I look pitiful??” I nodded as an answer. I bit my lower lip when he walks more toward me, and then he grabbed my waist closer to him.

“W-What are you doing??” I asked nervously. I can see the people passing by and staring at us.

“Don’t f**king look at me like that. I hate it.” He whispered into my ears.

Did I make him mad? What did I do?

He left me in here...

I just continued walking...

Oh, why can’t I stop thinking of him?! I’m really curious. Why is he like that? Why is he getting into trouble all the time, I have so many questions to ask. I only meet him now, but I can’t get him out of my mind.

"Is this normal or am I getting abnormal?" I asked myself and just shrugged.

I’m here now in front of our gate. I open it and go inside. The road in here looks really old, and you can see many cracks in it. On my right and left side, there are a lot of big trees. 

While walking I had a feeling that someone was looking at me and following me, but when I look around I didn't see anything besides the tree, rocks, birds, etc.

I opened the door, and I saw Maddie in front of me. “Sister Eunice.” She called me and she was about to hug me in but Uncle Rommel suddenly came, grabbed her hand, and pulled her away from me a little.

I thought he was busy. Sara said that Uncle Rommel has something to do... Oh, did she lie again to me? Yeah, right, she lied again. Hmm, it’s okay, maybe she’s just teasing me or something. I’m used to it.

“I already said that doesn’t come near to her Maddie!”

“But she’s kind, Uncle Rommel. Sister Eunice loves me. She can’t hurt me, I know that.” I heard Maddie whisper into Uncle Rommel’s ear. 

“Maddie, we talked about this last night, didn’t we, your mommy and I already said, and listen to what we have to say! If we told you not to come to her, do not come here!” I don’t understand what is he talking about.

I don’t know why he says that. I don’t know why they are moving away from me as if I will hurt them. The only one I can talk to more about here is Maddie. Even Mom doesn’t talk to me much. I can’t even remember when I last hugged or even touched her. Why is that? Are they mad at me? Have I done anything wrong? Since childhood, they have been like this to me.

I didn’t notice that Uncle Rommel and Maddie are already gone.

I saw Mom, I was about to step towards her, but she suddenly raised her palm at me. It was as if she was saying ‘stop’ 

“Go to your room now.” She muttered. I took a deep breath.

I just went into the room and got dressed. I caught and touch my throat when I suddenly felt thirsty. 

I went out of the room and went to the kitchen. I saw Auntie Carmi, she’s Uncle Rommel’s wife. She’s cooking right now. 

I drank water first before turning my gaze back to her. “Do you need help Auntie Carmi? I have nothing else to do, do you need help?” I asked.

“No, I can do this. I don’t need your help.” She said and not even looked at me.

“But I think you need help-- “

“I said, I don’t really need your help!! Ouch!!” She got burnt suddenly so, I immediately walk towards her and held her hand that was burnt but she pushed me so I sat on the floor.

“What have you done!! What did you do to her huh?!!” Tito Rommel shouted angrily.

“I didn’t do anything to her Tito-- “ My hand was shaking with fear because of his shout. 

“Liar!!”

“Rommel, just bring Carmi to your room. I’ll take care of this.” 

“I said when you went to your room, didn’t I?!”

“I was thirsty mom, so I went out of the room--“
