I believe the 1946 movie adaptation came up with Avenant, a villain who wanted to kill the Beast, instead of Beauty’s sisters being the evil culprits. Disney turned Avenant into Gaston, and that’s where I came up with Gloria. It seemed crazy for my Gloria to attempt to physically kill my Beast (Isobel), but I thought she could definitely kill Isobel’s spirit, so that’s what she did. I liked how the 1978 book Beauty by Robin McKinley and the Disney version made Beauty bookish, so I kept that. Plus, I wanted to keep the main theme that a person needed to express their heart and mind to become worth lovi

It was obvious that this beast wasn’t a minor rogue bandit. The beast watched her, captivated by her tear stained beauty, her rich copper red hair cascaded down her exposed back in waves. Her cheeks were flushed red from crying and her lips were blush pink. She wobbled to stand. “S-Stay back.” He watched as she scurried away and something struck in the beasts heart, he wanted the woman before him. Her sweet scent called to him and her soft voice was like music to his ears....he didn’t care if she was mated, he would kill her mate to get her.

She left a trail of blood as she ran towards the castle. The doctors were tending to the council’s wounds as Dracon, Anatoly, Esmerelda (his mother), and Fredrick (His father), went to the front steps wondering what had attacked. They watched with wide eyes as Rose jumped from the tree line with blood soaking her white fur. She slid in a half circle and turned around as her ears went back against her head. She let out a growl as she stood ready to attack what had chased after her. A streak of black could be seen coming from the woods. Before they could see what it was Rose had jumped onto its back and had her teeth baring down on the beast. It let out a loud growl and swiped a big paw at her

Half an hour later, I found myself outside the café, drawn by some dark magnetism to the mysterious stranger despite my nerves jingling like a keychain in a fidgety hand. Feeling overdressed, I wished I'd just stuck to my usual leggings or jeans. We'd agreed on a signal - he'd wear a black rose, and I'd be decked out in red, the real motivation for buying this scarlet dress. Drawing in a trembling breath, I pushed the door open.
