Henry stood beside it, dressed sharply, a faint smile already forming as I approached.
“Good morning, Ms Katherine,” he greeted, voice warm and unhurried.
His tone, always composed, almost teasing, made it too easy to smile back.
Gordon emerged from the doorway behind me. Our eyes met briefly, his sharp, my amused, before he turned away, climbing into his own car. The engine roared as he sped down the drive, his frustration trailing behind him like exhaust fumes.
Henry reached for my bag before I could stop him. “Allow me.”
