"We're with the supply side," I said, my voice flat and bored. I channeled my best Jax Carter impression. "Direct contact. Not on the list."
The man's eyes moved to Ren, who just stared back with a look of pure, cold hatred. Three seconds later, the bouncer held out his hand.
"Phones."
I handed mine over without a blink. Ren did the same. The door opened, and we stepped into the belly of the beast.
Inside, the music hit my chest like a blow. Red and blue lights cut through a thick cloud of smoke. The air smelled like expensive alcohol and a strong, manufactured chemical scent.
