She pushed it open. It was a library. There were thousands of books. They went all the way from the floor to the high ceiling. The room smelled like old paper and honey. In the center of the room, there was a small desk with one very old book on it. The book was open. Elara walked to the desk. She began to read. The words were simple, but they told a scary story. The book was about Silas and his family. It told the secret of the curse.

And yet the last light of the evening fell through. Golden. Warm. Almost alive. There were three beds in the room. Little. Ordinary. Despite the decades. A closet. A table. A shelf full of books.
