Turns out there were solid grounds for scrapping the entire agreement or forcing my dad into signing over half the company shares to my mother.” Jeremy narrowed his eyes observing Erika awkwardly lowering her head, fidgeting with the hem of her clothes, a habit she had when feeling either nervous or guilty.

Eric feels furious. Divorce Agreement? There is no way in hell he would ever sign it. Ally is his wife. He spent the last year searching for her. He will most certainly never let her go again. I should have been angry or hurt but all I felt was the cold satisfaction that she had taken the bait. My lips curled in a smile. “You know what? I agree.” The room went silent. Eric choked on his glass of wine, coughing and dropping the glass so quickly that some liquid spilled over the top. “What?” He choked, his face going pale. His mother reached to pat his back, shooting me a glare. I smiled at her. “Don’t act surprised Eric. We’ve discussed this before. I agree with Yan, you know, a divorce is exactly what we both need.” I turned to her, enjoying the look of panic in those blue eyes. “Thank you for bringing it up Yan.”

“You’re standing here acting like I owe you some kind of explanation or apology? Like I betrayed you somehow?” “You are my wife,” Eric said defensively. “Were,” I said firmly. “Past tense.
