Ron rolled his eyes in annoyance but stepped away. "Baby, how do I look?" I heard Esme asking Zav in a sickly sweet voice. I peeked over Ron's shoulder to see them. Esme was wearing a blue mid-thigh tight dress with lace up sides. The neckline was quite deep and teh side of her g-string was glaringly visible from the lace. The dress was quite revealing and yet she managed to pull it off with class. They both were twinning just like us. "Sexy like always," Zav circled his one arm around her waist and pulled her to his front. The corner of his lips were lifted into a sexy smirk as he sized her up.

Inside, she dresses almost like a lazy college student but is still utterly beautiful. Leggings, oversized sweatshirts, or just a little cropped shirt. The woman doesn't look a day over twenty, so she pulls it off, but it is a little funny to think that Luna Esma and I have the same sweatshirt and leggings.

She smiled at me, the first genuine smile I had seen since arriving at Nightfall. "Good morning, Miss Esme," she said quietly. "I'm Clara and I’ve been asked to help you get ready for the pack meeting." I nodded, not trusting myself to speak. My throat felt tight, like someone had wrapped their hands around it. Clara moved to the wardrobe and pulled out a dress I hadn't noticed before. It was deep blue, the color of the sky just after sunset, with long sleeves and a high collar, simple but beautiful. Nothing like the rags I had worn at Shadow Pack.

He rolled his eyes and laughed loudly. They arrived back at the pack house just before dawn, went to their separate rooms, and showered. Elleanna threw her dirty clothes into the hamper before her shower. She then went into her closet and ran her fingers along Romero’s clothing that still hung in there. His scent was still there and she smiled a little as she ran her fingers along each item. She knew she wouldn’t sleep now so she slipped into a long flowing white gown. The sleeves ended at her wrist and a silvery material hung from them. The collar of the dress ended at her high collarbones and the hem ended on the floor. She picked out a floral crown headband that had white gold roses on it

I look up. I see her—Esme sauntering towards some spiraling staircase on the far side of the foyer. She’s definitely taking her sweet time. Decked in a light, maybe pale blue or gray, silk dress that flows around her legs. It’s obviously expensive; something easy and airy, looking utterly chic even though her face is pale and puffy. She looks refined, which only makes my blood boil faster. She reaches the top of the staircase and pauses, her hand resting delicately on the railing. She looks resigned, like this whole dramatic storming-of-the-castle thing was inevitable—like she knew I would come.

"There’ll be better-looking guys tonight." I settle on a nude sequin dress. It’s short, falling just below my butt, with a deep neckline plunging to my midriff. No way I can wear a bra with this, so I skip it, deciding to show some skin. Esme picks a similar dress, but in black. Hers has spaghetti straps and a much higher neckline. She’s 27, a year younger than Mason, but she could easily pass for younger, which is why she blends in so well with my friends.

He glowered down at me, and I gulped, realizing that this man was a good 22 cm taller than me and likely 60 kgs heavier than me too! “Eileen, get over here.” Came a familiar bark of Cassandra, the eldest coven matron. I spun and noticed that all three, Cassandra, Selene, and Endora stood with aunt Rhianna in their most formal long black gowns and black long coats. The atmosphere was solemn as the surviving pack members all stood watching, as their alpha’s daughter married the one responsible for their destruction. “You may now open the veil, y-your highness,” the chief priest said, stammering slightly. Esme was glaring daggers at him as he lifted the veil and his lips tipped up in amusement. “Lovely.” Esme scoffed inwardly. She’d refused to rub any makeup on her face, coming as she was with the mark of her dad’s hand on her face and marks on her neck. Let him see it and squirm.

She wears bright red lipstick and a tight black dress that reaches to her ankles. I'm thinking she has some impressive curves on her but she's jumping up and down and yelling, "Yes, you've got it!" I grin because Esme is happy. But I have no idea what 'it' is or how I've got it.
