“Good evening, your majesties.” I bit the inside of my cheek when I saw Esme in all her bloodsucking glory. She wore a black plunge lantern sleeve high slit ruched evening dress that left very little to the imagination. Her dark brown hair was well straightened and made her appear classy. Her black eyes followed Dimitri when he shifted in his seat. I felt Jean stiffen beside me and Dimitri lowered his eyes. What bothered me was Lucien who stood beside her. Sweat dampened the collar of her training shirt, and her braid swung across her back as she headed toward the lockers. The neckline had shifted just enough that I caught another glimpse of the dark markings stretching across her shoulder—those feathered tattoos again. Even from here they looks so real, like they'd feel like real feathers if I ran my hands against her skin.

This was just Esme doing normal things that she did in her spare time. “No Esme, I don't know what you can wear. No Esme, you can't go as a bug or even a fly, is what I believe is on your head. You're scared of them and by the time they see you and think you're a walking giant, you're going to get scared and freak out. Plus, this year, I thought you said you wanted to wear something sexy.” She removed the costume and walked back to the camera. She had been sweating in that thing and it was dripping down her face.
