​The Battle of the Margin ​Kael channeled the eighty years of his "Muted" life—the decades of silence that the "Author" had skipped over in a few sentences. He forced the Ink-Man to experience the Boredom, the Un-Narrated Pain, and the Slow Decay of a life lived in the shadows of the main plot. ​The Ink-Man recoiled. The manuscript pages that made up its skin began to curl and char as if exposed to a direct flame. ​"This... this is not in the outline!" the entity hissed, its obsidian eyes flickering.

Faded ink caught his eye. Kyla Harper. “There you are,” he mumbled, then flicked the document open.

"You knew Summer was sick all along! The medicine you threw into the fountain right in front of us was Summer's special medication! Yvonne, we were so nice to you! Why would you hurt Summer like this?" Ethan and Nelson looked shocked too. They grabbed the papers and started reading. With every page, they looked more and more upset. By the end, they were shaking like leaves. They might not have thought their actions were a big deal at the time, but seeing everything written down made them finally understand how much they had hurt me.

"He bought the wrong one. Got the style mixed up. If you think it looks too old-fashioned, just melt it down and make something new." The original necklace was gone long ago.
