The Hockey Star Regret
“We’ve received an anonymous report claiming that portions of your academic record, specifically your high school transcript, were falsified during your scholarship application. We’ve been asked to review the validity of this claim.”
For a moment, I couldn’t even process the words. “Falsified?” I repeated, my voice barely above a whisper. “That’s not possible.”
One of the committee members, a stern-looking woman from the registrar’s office, folded her hands. “The report alleges that your GPA and academic ranking were misrepresented.”
I felt like someone had punched me in the gut. “That’s ridiculous. I was my high school valedictorian. My records are completely legitimate.”
