The house was completely quiet all she could hear were the birds singing outside. Getting up she searched the whole house, opening cupboards and drawers but there was nothing, she could not sense anything, she was empty. Crawling back into her bed she cried brokenly, this was the price she had to pay, she had lost her magic and that meant she had lost the people she loved. Without her magic she could not open the portals to the other Realms, she was locked here on Earth with the humans, the barrier preventing any contact even though she searched desperately looking for a way.

As they say men are terrible at writing romance.” He jokes. I narrow my eyes at him. He might write fantasy, but his books always have a hint of romance to it.

It seemed ages ago when I stopped reading fantasy romances and began living in one of them, so I am not sure if I would ever enjoy reading them again. I haven’t had time to read anything except for my mother’s journals and the medicine books from the coven, so it was a pleasant change to hear something different. It was as if we were gossiping about someone else’s life. In the books, we didn’t have to worry about real-world problems; any conflict or issue was not ours to resolve. The pages gave us something to be excited about.
