The Quiet End of Us
Blood stained the floor, visible in the sunlight.
Henley gripped the ring and exhaled deeply. The ring began to heat up under the sun's rays.
In that dazed moment, Henley seemed to hear Joanna's voice.
"You killed your mother… and you killed me with your own hands," she said. "Someone like you can never be forgiven."
He crawled toward the sound, stumbling his way toward the bathroom.
With his teeth, he managed to turn the faucet on the bathtub, contorting his body awkwardly, elbowing himself into the tub.
