The Fool He Made Me
I was head over heels, dreaming of a future with him while circling answers.
He wasn't exactly focused either. When he looked at me, his sincerity seemed real. "What kind of ring do you like?"
Talking about rings so young made us both blush like fools. After a long pause, I mumbled, "Purple, I guess. I've always loved purple."
His voice was soft. "Got it."
The cicadas hummed, and for a moment, I believed in forever.
"Their company is a wreck, and he sends a purple diamond? Must've sold his soul for that," Stanley said, his tone sharp with rare venom.
