She had done her part and chosen her freedom. I exhaled slowly. “I understand,” I said quietly. “I will not let this define me. We are free… and I will honor that freedom.” And then… For the first time in my life, I laughed without control or measure. But with freedom. Even if it costs me her. Charlotte Reed’s brilliance frightened me because it mirrored my own—but inverted. She built freedom by erasing lineage. I built lineage to protect freedom. Somewhere between those two definitions, Dr. Voss waited, holding the truth we all forgot to sign.

I touched my stomach. We had survived so much just to reach this table. There were moments when I genuinely believed none of us would make it here. There were nights when I wondered whether God had forgotten me. There were days when I thought the only way to become free was to disappear. But I was wrong. Freedom wasn't death. Freedom was waking up. Freedom was choosing truth. Freedom was forgiving yourself for the things you never had the power to change. Freedom was rewriting history. And freedom was finally

“You wanna know what we call it?” I didn’t respond. More like I couldn’t. What they injected to me didn’t just calm me down. It wouldn’t even make me move. I could barely open my mouth nor speak. It shut Jia down. ”We call it The Freedom. You know why?” He walked in front of me. I watched as his eyes sparkled. Thinking of the things that are in their plans to be made. ”It will allow us to be free from the injustices of this kingdom. To be free to do what we want without having to follow or bow down to anyone. We are going to be much stronger, quicker and powerful than that puny boy king of Vamos.”

I'd sold the house, and now, with my mother healthy again, we were heading overseas to start anew. Leaving wasn't an escape—it was the beginning of my freedom.

Staring at the ceiling, my thoughts starting to disturb me again. The betrayal of my best friend. My ruthless husband. My son. And for the nth time, I'm found myself slitting my wrist again. Can somebody help me? Can someone free me from the hell that I'm staying? Save me please .. I'm really tired of living .. Lord .. Until when should I pay for my mistake? Lord, please let me rest. Lord, I can't handle anymore .. Please… free me from all the pain.

I don't want Lucian, and I don't want anyone to decide how a white wolf like me should live. Now, I finally did it. I didn't become someone else's mirror image. I didn't stay trapped in a story written for me. I followed the wind into a life I chose. The wind proved that freedom wasn't losing the ability to love. In fact, it was the exact opposite. It was becoming yourself first and then still finding the courage to give your love away.

I finished the letter. Freedom is not the absence of connection - you said that, and I have been understanding it better as each month passes. I had always thought freedom meant independence from need. I now understand it means the presence of genuine choice, and that genuine choice requires that the people around you are not quietly engineering the cost of the alternatives.
