We were talking about boys and giggling. A young Gertrude burst into the room demanding to be a part of the conversation and I and mother exchanged knowing glances and were thrown into peels of laughter once more. “What were you two discussing that was so funny, eh?” she demanded with a pout. Gertrude hated feeling left out. “Read the room, sis. They do not want you to be a part of the conversation,” funny enough I had not noticed that Gerard had come in. Jacob had a cold look on his face as he shouted. He seemed like he tried to look as majestic as he could. "He's not here. He left in the morning," Gilbert said. "Not here? Old man, do you think I'm so easy to trick?!" Jacob laughed, clearly not believing Gilbert. "You can believe whatever you want!" Gilbert's expression darkened.
