Atlas knelt beside the security panel, his fingers working fast. “That’s optimistic.”
The door slid open with a hiss.
Inside was a colossal chamber, lined with humming pylons and a massive, circular console at its center. The Cumulus core hovered mid-air, suspended in a magnetic field, glowing like a second sun, pulsing with dormant energy.
“This is it,” Damien said, breathless. “The heart of the monster.”
