Ga-chi. The grinding in my neck faltered. The stone beneath my jaw began to itch—not with rot, but with reversion. I looked at my right hand, and for a heartbeat, the waxy skin turned soft and pink, the calluses I’d earned in the New York basements smoothing away as if they had never existed. I don’t know what’s wrong with my wolf, but I don’t have time to deal with him right now. “Remind me who the Layton’s are.” Kit narrow his eyes momentarily. “The Layton’s, Primrose and Edward are the couple Gianna has been working with over the past month,” I don’t have a fucking clue what Kit is talking about!

"Quick." The four of us take cover--me and Marlow behind a shed, Brynn behind a tree, and Gregory behind the boiler room. Moments later, we hear the boiler room door fly open. The four Silver Hunters burst out of the boiler room, their weapons drawn. But they're too late. We're already in position, ready to take them down. Marlow shifts into his gorilla form, his fur bristling as he leaps forward, his eyes glinting in the firelight. The Silver Hunters shout in surprise as he barrels into them, taking them off guard.

Never give away a show. "She will stand in the middle until we get confirmation that you traded the revenue for her life. We get a hint of dishonesty and-" I grabbed Dargan's Glock beside me. Aiming it Alvara's head, I pushed down the horror in my chest. None of my men flinched. "I spray her brains on the road, do you understand?" I cocked the gun back, a sounding click echoing around us. Alvara flinched slightly. But her growing arousal was proof that she did, indeed, trust me.
