Dad gives my shoulder a squeeze and kisses the top of my head. I turn around and hug him “Thank you, Dad,” Just as I step out of the embrace my phone chimes with several texts. I grab my phone off the vanity and check all the messages. Three of them were from my NC friends wishing me a happy birthday and the other two were from Sel and Jen telling me they were on their way and that I should hurry up to get there with them. I reply to my NC friends saying thank you and I’ll text them tomorrow to tell them how the ball went, but my Cali friends they don’t know it’s my birthday today as I’ve not told them, but I text them saying that I’ll be leaving shortly.
