She grabbed the pen holder on her desk and raised it like she was about to throw it at me. I reacted fast and caught her wrist midair. "Irene, don't be like that. What happened last night wasn't just on me, but you can't starve yourself over it." I softened my voice on purpose, my other hand brushing lightly over the back of hers. She kept her voice low, terrified someone outside might hear.
