“Sorry to intrude. When I saw you earlier, I just… I thought that was you. But I didn’t want to bother you.” I hesitated, but stepped forward. “Do I know you?” “No, but I know of you,” he said warmly. “Name’s Pierce. Here with family. We’re staying just a few doors down. Hope I’m not overstepping.” There was something in his smile. Something too smooth. Still, I kept my tone neutral. “It’s fine. My son and I are having a nice time.” He glanced toward the open door, where Aiden’s game controller clicks echoed. “Lucky kid.”

At first, I was planning to approach Pierce, but I hesitated and stopped myself. I didn’t notice at first, but he was with a woman. Both of them were wearing proper horseback riding attire. They had probably just finished riding and were taking a break. Right. Pierce loves horseback riding. When he’s not at the beach, he’s here. He’s into sports. He bowed slightly and extended a silver-edged business card to Ophelia. “For you, Miss Harvey. I’m Theodore Pierce, from Pierce Holdings. I’d be honored to take you out sometime.” Alexander rolled his eyes and muttered under his breath, “Of course…” To his disbelief, Ophelia smiled and accepted the card without hesitation. “Thank you, Mr. Pierce. I’ll keep it in mind.”

She did not think that he was a warm-hearted person either, and she could even feel a strong sense of alienation in him sometimes.
