Ohas said softly.
Hayden felt something cold settle in his stomach. “What?”
Ohas brushed his clawed fingers over Hayden’s wrist before pulling back. "You’re my second chance mate."
The room felt too small.
Hayden blinked, his body still, his mind frozen in shock. “No.”
Ohas only gave a small, knowing smile, filled with something painful. “Yes."
“But—” Hayden struggled for words. “I’m human. That’s not possible.”
“I thought the same,” Ohas admitted, voice barely above a murmur. “I knew from the beginning, but I tried to deny it.” He let out a bitter laugh, his fangs flashing in the dim light. “It was the biggest reason I kept you alive.”
