After a moment, he asked softly, “Have you thought about a name?”
I hesitated, blinking down at her. Her tiny face was scrunched, her lips twitching as if she was dreaming. “I don’t know,” I admitted. “I didn’t get that far.”
He nodded, silent for a while, then said, “I think I have one.”
I looked up. “Yeah?”
He leaned closer, his voice dropping low. “Hope.”
The word hung there, simple and heavy all at once.
“Hope,” I repeated, my throat thick.
